Sariska National Park
Sariska National Park is one of the largest and most famous national parks in India. Located in the state of Rajasthan, Sariska National Park is one of the most famous tiger reserves in India. The park is an entrancing preserve for tigers. Originally the private hunting ground of the Maharaja of Alwar, this national park in Alwar district is rich in flora and fauna.
Sariska National Park is situated 107 km from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, and is 200 km from Delhi. Today Sariska National Park is major wildlife tourist destination that has allured several wildlife photographers and enthusiasts in large number.
Sariska National Park is one of the wild life sanctuaries in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The national park once boasted to have a high density of tiger population in the country.
Though the undisputed highlight of the Sariska National park is obviously the tiger,  the park is home to a large number of species that include hanuman langur, the Bengal tiger, leopards,  golden jackal, jungle cat, caracal, chital, sambhar, striped hyena, chinkara, nilgai, four-horned antelope 'chousingha', and a wide array of bird species and reptiles.

Within the confines of the Sariska National Park one can find sites of historical importance. The famed Kankwadi fort, built by the erstwhile ruler of Jaipur, Jai Singh II, is known for being the prison of Dara Shikoh , the eldest son of Shah Jahan. Dara Shikoh was defeated and killed by his brother and the sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in the war of succession to the Mughal throne. According to tradition, Pandupol in the hills in the middle of the Sariska National Park was the place where the Pandava brothers of the Mahabharta fame spent their days when in exile. Pilgrims from across India come to visit the Hanuman temple in Pandupol.
While in Alwar, it is recommended that you must visit the Sariska National park. The park also attracts locals in large number. Set amongst the Vindhyas, Sariska National Park is wild and beautiful. Though spread over a small area, the park is famous for the high density of tiger in India.

The nearest airport to Sariska National park is Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Visitors can fly to Delhi or Jaipur and move to Alwar by rail or road.
Best Time to Visit Sariska National park
You can visit Sariska National park anytime in the year. However, the best period to visit the Sariska National park is during the months of October to June.
