Goa. The name turns on thousand watt bulbs all around, brings trillion dollar smile on face, echoe fun and frolic memories in heart and soothes the soul with cool breeze fetched by sparkling blue ripples.  That’s Goa. Yet its playful ambience has not spilled over its art and culture. Goa has its own rich art and culture. Goa is known for cheerful celebrations and plethora of fun festivals. It is the bridge between the east and the west.
Goa is unique in its own way as it inter-mingles different religious celebrations and nurtures harmonious co-existence of Hindu and Christian. Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Dussehra, Haldi Kukum, Nagpancham, Christmas, Easter, Shigmo (holi), Zatra at Shirgao, Good Friday celebration, Carnival – Goa adorns its landscape with varied celebrations. Every festival instils life, spark of exuberance among the crowd. The co-existence of different religious, traditional and cultural sentiments is what makes Goa a vivid place. December will witness a gala celebration of Christmas in every corner of Goa, spreading its exuberance all over.
Goa’s native language is called Konkani. Konkani literature has produced masters like Bakibab Borkar and many more, who have enriched the literature with their brilliant masterpieces.
Goa is the land of artisans and craftsmen, where creativity finds its aesthetic inspiration from the blue sparkling ripples and its core culture. Artisans of Goa excel in whatever they do. Their magic spill over every piece of creation whether it’s rosewood and teakwood furniture, terracotta potteries and statuettes, classic brass items or unique gold jewelleries.  Goa’s folk paintings have found place not only in temples, churches and houses but also in hearts of its visitors. These paintings depict various acts of epics like Mahabharata, Ramayana and Puranas. Brilliance of ancient craftsmanship during Portuguese rule is still visible at the Christian Art Museum.
Goan Hindus are passionate admirers of traditional plays, music like bhajan and kirtan. Indian classical music industry has witnessed several music connoisseurs from Goa. Goa has produced some of the finest performers of Hindustani classical music, such as the eminent vocalist Surashri Kesarbai Kerkar and Lata Mangeshkar, the most famous singer in the history of the Indian film industry. Singing sensations like Asha Bhosle, Kishori Amonkar, Jitendra Abhisheki, Prabhakar Karekar hail from Goa. 
Goa Trance is a form of electronic music that was developed almost around the same time as Trance music started casting its spell all over in Europe. Goa is the cradle of this genre of music. This music was nothing but reflection of pop culture in the lovely beaches of Goa as Hippies from USA, UK started treating Goa as their favourite holiday spot. Beach music has always been a craze in Goa, since the time of Beatles; it was followed by Psychedelic Trance. Several Goa Trance artists like Simon Posford, Slinky Wizard, and Total Eclipse are still lending their hearts to this music. Goa enjoys not only Indian but techno, jazz, western classic, blues etc. Goa is known for its popular form of pop music, which is sung in Konkani language. Goan pop star Remo Fernandes, Canadian-Goan band Goa Amigos are popular all across the world. Goa has its own unique folk music, Mando which evolved from wedding music. This music inspires dance and Ovi music is known for its chorus form. Goans have music in their veins and know how to play a couple of lovely instruments.
Goan also known for the dances and rave late night parties at the bank of beaches. There are some classical and traditional dances of like Corridinho, Dekhnni, Dhalo, Fugdi, Kunbi, Lamp Dance and Shigmo make goa culture a unique and different from others.
Goa has its own royal charm, adorned with grandeur of spectacular Indo-Portuguese styles of architecture. Fountainhas in Panaji exhibits the architecture and culture of Goa. Mangueshi Temple of Goa is one of those temples, which still bears the Portuguese influence. Goa is an amalgamation of several styles. It bears rich influence of India, Mughal and Portuguese in its style of architecture. Churches and houses still bear the Portuguese fragrance in their architecture. Being under Mughal rule as well Goa bears significant Mughal style in the architecture of monuments in the form of lovely domes and ornamentation. Thus Goa exhibits a blend of magnificence. 
Native people of Goa prefer to call themselves Goans. They take immense pride on their ethnicity and take every attempt to preserve its uniqueness. Goa displays spectacular harmony among its people of diverse religions. Hindus, Muslims and Christians prefer to call themselves a ‘Goan’ first. Irrespective of religious affiliations,
Goans are the happy-go-lucky bunch, celebrating every moment of life. Their moods are reflected in the fun and frolic flavour of Goa, where every day is a new celebration. This perennial party city lives every moment in a big way and its mood gets reflected in the bright, casual clothes people wear. Its exuberant vibes spread all over. Their carefree Goan spirit gets reflected through the bright floral prints. Goa is the hub of latest fashion. Beaches are infested with happy souls in colourful sarongs, swimsuits, cool junk jewelleries, beachwear accessories, funky shorts and tees. 
Goa has several gems studded in its crown, 'Rome of Asia', 'Pearl of the Orient’ etc. In true sense, it is indeed the ‘Empress of the East.

GOA Travel Experience

Whenever I hear about Goa, the only thing that resurfaces out of my ever exhilarating thoughts is my last excursion with my school friends and teachers. It was so much fun with all the beaches, the coconut trees, the sand houses and who can forget the ambience of Dutch and Portugal during their renaissance days.
