The smallest country in the Central America, El Salvador is enticing to the tourists, especially to those with a romantic vision of the past. For most the powerful draws of the country are its colonial architecture, ancient archaeological sites, verdant tropical forests, lakes and volcanic peaks and untouched black sand beaches. The main tourist attractions in El Salvador include the Izalco Volcano, San Salvador Volcano, Montecristo Cloud Forest, Parque Nacional Montecristo-El Trifinio (national park), Lake Coatepeque, Lago de Ilopango (volcanic lake), and archaeological sites of Tazumal, San Andres and Joya De Ceren, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Other places of interest in El Salvador are the magnificent St Ignatius Loyola Church with a traditional Spanish colonial facade, San Jacinto Mountain Amusement Park, Puerta del Diablo (devil’s doorway) and the Balboa Park. For adventure tourists the country offers a wide range of exciting activities like boating, fishing, surfing, canoeing and whitewater rafting. In fact the country has become a hot-spot for surfers thanks to its 300 km of coastline.
